2013 Women's Soccer Preview
Mckeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team is looking forward to begin their first season of play at the institution in the 2013-14 season.
"We have a good core group of hard-working females that will work together well to boost the teams efforts," said head coach Ashley Davis. "Their hustle will carry them through."
Freshman Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) will take her speed to the midfield or in a forward position to be able to generate offense for the Lions. Freshman Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) will be playing center defense for GA, where she will be able to show her speed and aggressiveness. Senior midfielder Nicole Bacvinskas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear), junior defenseman Victoria Benedetto (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) and freshman forward Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) all will contribute with moving and controlling the field to be able to keep GA in the game. Freshman center midfield Taylor Bayes (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) maintains great ball control and will help hold the ball in the center of the field.
"There are also a lot of eager newcomers ready to assist the team in any way possible. There will be some growing pains in the beginning, but I am confident in the athletes growth throughout the season. Although a very young team, it will continue to get stronger in years to come."
Greater Allegheny kicks-off their season today (Friday) against Mount Aloysius for a 2 p.m. start.
