Greater Allegheny Women's Soccer Close First Season at Home Against Penn State Beaver
McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team closed their first season back in action against conference adversary, Penn State Beaver, Wednesday afternoon at Francis McClure.
The cold and rainy game started quickly, as Beaver managed to notch a goal just 90 seconds into the game. Defensive efforts from freshman Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny), freshman Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) and junior Victoria Benedetto (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) stopped the visiting Lions to just the lone goal for the remainder of the half.
As the game continued on, the weather got worse and the moral began to dwindle. Six more goals were cashed by the Beaver offense over the course of the next 45 minutes. GA's final game of the season came to a close in a 7-0 defeat.
Freshman goaltender Nana Kennedy-Kwofie (Kenya) faced 30 shots, haulting 23. Freshman Kristina Dague (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) generated two shots on goal.
Greater Allegheny finishes their first regular season collegiate play with a record of 0-10, 0-3 PSUAC. As the team goes into their first off-season, head coach Ashley Davis looks to have a great year of recruiting and looks to build the program into their second year.
