2021-22 Non-conference schedule is released.
The Lady Nittany Lions of Greater Allegheny have their non-conference slate set for the 2021-22 season.
The Davon Miller era of Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball will officially begin on Sunday, Oct. 30, against Ohio Valley University, the start of a two-game season-opening home-stand. Under six-year head coach Davon Miller, the Lady Lions return three players who started at least 20 games in the 2019-20 season. PSU-GA is led by De'Neisha Williams, (12.0 ppg), (8.5 rpg), and a nationally rank 4th in Steals (95) and Kennedy Henderson (16.6 ppg), (6.8 rpg) and tied with fellow teamate Williams in steals (95).
Wilberforce makes its first trip to McKeesport Hall on Monday, Nov. 1. The Derek Williams led Bulldogs will return 11 players from a team that went 19-11 in the 2019-20 season.
Following the OVU and WU matchups, PSU-GA will go on the road to play cross town foe Chatham University on Nov. 5. The Lady Lions are 0-2 against the Cougars with their last matchup ending in a 60-70 loss on Nov. 8, Point Park will look to continue its dominance over GA with an overall record of 6-0. Their last matchup ended in a 105-59 loss to the Pioneers.
The Lady Lions will travel to Ohio Valley and Wilberforce to close out the home and home series.
The month of November will not get any easier as the Lady Lions will travel to Virginia State University for the VSU Thanksgiving Classic. On Nov. 26, the Lions will face the 3 time CIAA coach of the Year James Hill Jr. led Virginia State Trojans followed by a Nov. 27 matchup with Shaw University of the powerful CIAA conference. The games will be a first time matchup and promises to be interesting.
The rest of the non-conference schedule will conclude with home matchups on Jan. 10 against University of Maine Fort Kent and Jan. 21 Bryant and Stratton-Buffalo.
"The goal is to get better and to get better you have to play better teams." stated coach Miller. After a successful recruiting off-season there is a chance they will be better.
