Softball Returns, Kochka and Crew Dream Big
(Mckeesport, PA) Greater Allegheny Softball looks to return to PSUAC playoffs this season
It's been over one year since Danielle Kochka, head coach of Penn State Greater Allegheny Softball, led her team onto the diamond to compete in a game. The 2019/20 season was underway when the Covid-19 pandemic hit and haulted operations for the season. One year later, the team is back and poised to make a run at the PSUAC playoffs.
"I am so excited to get his season started!" said, Kochka. "Not getting to play last season has my team bursting at the seams waiting to get back on the field. Their enthusiasm, energy, and excitement is contagious and you can't help but root for them!"
GA softball is led by a group of five seniors determined to go out with a homerun of a season. "I can't wait to see what my core group of returning seniors can do. These girls are talented, hungry, and past due for a winning season. They know their goals and they are ready to fight for them!I think our team is looking pretty good!", added Kochka.
The Covid-19 pandemic has presented opportunities for the players to bond in ways that were not fully realized at the time. Kochka said, "My players have come together off the field over the course of the year, and the chemistry has already translated onto the field in practice."
"I believe we have a solid team to compete in our conference, with our goal of being able to make it back to the PSUAC playoffs!"
The season begins Sunday, March 21 at 2pm with a home doubleheader versus Penn State Mont Alto. The game will be played at 2200 Eden Park Blvd. McKeesport PA 15132.
