Bucsok Announced as USCAA Division II Goalie of the Week
The USCAA released it's weekly awards on Wednesday and PSUGA Goalkeeper Colin Bucsok has been named this week's Division II Men's Soccer Goalie of the Week. Bucsok had 20 saves in 25 chances leading his team to a 2-1 record.
McKeesport, Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced their weekly award winners on Wednesday and PSUGA Soccer Player Colin Bucsok (Pittsburgh, PA./Thomas Jefferson HS) has been named this week’s USCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Goalie of the Week. It was the second award of the week won by Bucsok after being named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week on Tuesday.
Bucsok led his team to a 2-1 record over the week with wins of 4-0 over PSU-New Kensington and 2-1 over PSU-Scranton. In his three games played he collected 20 saves on 25 shots good for a .800 save percentage. He combined to allow an average of just two goals per game during the week.
Bucsok currently ranks as one of the top goalies in all of the PSUAC ranking fifth in the conference in save percentage at .756 and third in goal against average (2.26). Bucsok also tied the PSUGA program record for career wins as a goalie with the two wins and now has 12 wins in his first year and a half with the team.
This is the first time in Bucsok’s career that he has been picked as the USCAA Division II Men’s Soccer goalie of the week. He won the PSUAC Goalkeeper of the week award once last season and won it for the second time in his career yesterday. He is the second PSUGA soccer player to be recognized by the USCAA this season and the third PSUGA athlete to get national recognition.
Bucsok and his team are back in action on Saturday when they travel to take on Valley Forge in non-conference action at 2 p.m. It is the first of two games this weekend for PSUGA with their matchup on Sunday coming with conference foe PSU-Hazleton.
