GREATER ALLEGHENY SWEEPS WEEKEND SERIES OVER NEW KENSINGTON
Penn State Greater Allegheny put together a dominant four-game performance over the weekend, sweeping Penn State New Kensington in convincing fashion and extending its strong conference run.
Game 1: Greater Allegheny 9, New Kensington 2
Greater Allegheny wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the opening inning and never looking back in a 9-2 victory.
The offense was balanced throughout the lineup, with multiple players recording multi-hit games. Eric Valentin highlighted the day with a home run, while Duston Strom and Julian Santiago each scored twice.
On the mound, Gabe Kendrick delivered a strong outing, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs while striking out six to earn the win.
Game 2: Greater Allegheny 13, New Kensington 3
After falling behind early, Greater Allegheny erupted for eight runs in the third inning to seize control and cruise to a 13-3 win.
Eric Valentin led the offensive explosion with three hits and three RBIs, including a home run. Nolan Ryan added three RBIs of his own, while Robert Amell and Shemar Barr each contributed multi-hit performances.
Matthew Rivera earned the win on the mound, going five innings and striking out five, while Lucas Demchak closed the door with two scoreless innings.
Game 3: Greater Allegheny 10, New Kensington 0 (5 innings)
Greater Allegheny continued its offensive surge in Saturday's opener, scoring seven runs in the second inning en route to a 10-0 run-rule victory.
The Lions pounded out 10 hits, with contributions up and down the lineup. Robert Amell drove in two with a triple, while Koleton Grishkevich and Henry Dickmann each added key RBIs.
On the mound, Brayden Patton was dominant, striking out six over four shutout innings, with Collin Parker finishing off the combined shutout.
Game 4: Greater Allegheny 10, New Kensington 0 (6 innings)
The weekend finale saw more of the same, as Greater Allegheny completed the sweep with another shutout victory, 10-0.
Eric Valentin had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a three-run home run. Damian Bosco scored three times, while Julian Santiago and Shemar Barr added multi-hit efforts.
The pitching staff combined for a two-hit shutout, with Ethen Culbertson leading the way before a trio of relievers preserved the clean sheet.
