Baseball Opens, Eyes Postseason Run
The 2021 season saw Greater Allegheny Baseball secure the #3 playoff seed in the PSUAC West Division.
They would eventually take a tough road loss to PSUAC and USCAA champion Penn State DuBois on the road to close out the season and finished the year 14-11 overall.
Baseball is back and 17 players return to the squad from last year's team.
Most notably Brian Woods, who was a PSUAC All-Conference and USCAA honorable mention pick last season as a first year player. Woods hit .420 last season with 21 hits in 50 plate appearances including a homerun at Penn State Mont Alto.
Outfielder/Pitcher Jordan Williams led the team in total hits (30) last season with Patrick Brennan and Tyler Elliot not far behind. All three players are back this season.
Gustavo Delgado, Adam Wilson, and Williams are the most experienced pitchers on the roster. Delgado threw 18 innings last season and Wilson added 15 with a dazzling 2.40 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
Non-conference play opens on Saturday and Sunday against D'Youville at Pullman Park at 12pm and 3pm.
UPDATE: Game time on Saturday, Feb 26 will now be 3pm.
