Sueriah Timsah Named Penn State Greater Allegheny Athlete of the Week
As the Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletic Season got underway over the weekend, Sueriah Timsah has been named the first PSUGA Female athlete of the week for her breakout performance at the USCAA Tip-off Tournament
McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletics season has officially begun with Volleyball taking part in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tip-off Tournament over the weekend. With the start of the season comes the start of our brand-new Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletes of the Week award.
This week, PSUGA Volleyball player Sueriah Timsah (Mesquite, TX./West Mesquite HS) has been named the PSUGA Female Athlete of the Week after having a hot start to the season over the first three matches leading her team on the offensive side of the ball. She collected a team high 15 kills over the weekend while finishing second on the team with 48 total attacks.
Timsah is in her first year at PSUGA coming from Mesquite, Texas. During her senior season at West Mesquite High School she was named a First-Team All-District Player for the Wranglers as well as a captain of the volleyball team. Her big performance in the opening weekend gives her and her team confidence as they move closer and closer to conference play.
After missing a spot in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Playoffs by just a couple of games last season, Timsah and the rest of the PSUGA Volleyball team are determined to make their mark this year and compete for a PSUAC Championship.
Because none of PSUGA’s Male sports were in action this week, there will be no male athlete of the week for week 1, but there will be a player named in week 2. Timsah and her team return to action this Friday when they host Point Park for their first home game of the 2018-2019 season.
