University Park, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's cross country team competed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship at Penn State Mont Alto, Saturday afternoon, as sophomore Ellis Massiah (Waterford, Ct./Waterford) qualified for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship.

Massiah finished the race in 30:57, good enough for a third overall finish and the First-Team All-Conference recognition. With the finish, Ellis is qualified for the USCAA National Championship in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Thursday November 10th.

Freshman Fernando Leira (Madrid, Spain/Great Mills (Md.)) crossed the finish line in 12th place at 33:04. The 12th place finish was enough to land Leira a Second-Team All-Conference award.

Sophomore Michael Risnear (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) wrapped up the Lions effort in 15th place in a time of 35:28.

The race at Mont Alto consisted of 38 total runners.

Good luck to Ellis in the National Championship!
