Greater Allegheny Hosts Annual Cross Country Invitational

McKeesport, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's and men's cross country teams hosted 15 other schools to the Greater Allegheny campus, Saturday afternoon, for a 5k women's race and a 8k men's competition through GA as well as Renzie Park.

The women raced first to begin the Invitational. Greater Allegheny freshman Casey Wash (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport Area) ran the 5k in 32:16, placing 50th out of 55.

Through the men's 8k, freshman Michael Burchlaw (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) came in third place out of 63 runners with an overall time of 26:35, just behind a pair of Division II University of Pitt-Johnstown student-athletes.

Sophomore Andrew Bradley (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) placed 19th with a time of 32:17 while freshman Derek Pribanic (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) finished in 33:30, 29th place.

Sophomore Codie Buglar (Elizabeth, Pa./Yough) sat in 31st place with a time of 33:53 while freshman Ellis Massiah (Waterford, Ct./) finished just after him in 33rd at 34:44. Freshman Michael Risnear (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) completed the race in 35:39, 41st place. Freshman Haotian Qi (Jinan, China/Lakeshore High) wrapped up the race for Greater Allegheny, as he finished in 54:32 at 63rd place.

As a team, the Greater Allegheny men's team earned 2nd place overall with 69 points behind UPJ, who posted 19.

Greater Allegheny looks to travel to Penn State Brandywine for a Penn State University Athletic Conference Invitational Saturday, September 19th. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
