Lion Women's Soccer Suffer 2-0 Loss to Mont Alto

Mont Alto, Pa. - Despite a hard contest from freshman goaltender Alexa Byers (Spring Creek, Pa./Corry Area), the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's soccer team dropped their first Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up to Penn State Mont Alto, Saturday afternoon, by a tally of 2-0.

The GA defense held strong for 32 minutes before Mont Alto's Taylor Zeiders managed one in the back of the net, 1-0 MA.

Just a few minutes before halftime, the Mont Alto offense linked up in front of the net to squeak the ball over the goal-line, 2-0 Mont Alto.

The game remained scoreless through the second half, as Byers was replaced by senior defender Jess Manfredi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) for the final twenty minutes of action. Byers collected 12 saves as Manfredi stopped four.

Freshman midfielder Erin Findlay (Greensburg, Pa./Central Catholic) posted five shots as Manfredi took four and senior midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) with three.
