Media, Pa. – The #11 Penn State Greater Allegheny Soccer team (7-2, 5-1) suffered a tough loss on Saturday as they fell to #9 Penn State Brandywine 7-0 taking their first loss in Penn State University Athletic Conference play this season.
It was a sloppy game throughout by PSUGA as they just never got anything going on the offensive side of the ball and that is what ultimately lead to their demise. They are now 5-1 in conference play as they look to rebound later this week.
This game was controlled by Brandywine as they took the lead just seven minutes into the ball game on a goal by Chris Reibman to make it 1-0. Reibman would not be done their as he collected a hat trick and then some in the game scoring four goals, two of those coming before halftime. Ronaldo Care, Mohamed Camara, and Brandon Crochunis would all score goals to finish out the 7-0 victory.
PSUGA only had four shots, one on goal, compared to Brandywine’s 30 shots, 19 on goal. Jake Theiret (Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny) lead the team with three shots on the day followed by Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) who had two. Colin Buscok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) collected 13 saves in net, but also allowed seven goals in the loss.
PSUGA now falls to second place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference sitting one game behind Brandywine. PSUGA has already clinched a spot in this year’s PSUAC playoffs, but are trying to play for better positioning as they look to make a run at the coveted PSUAC Championship.
They will get a chance to redeem themselves very quickly this week when they travel to Penn State Beaver on Tuesday for another conference match-up. Kickoff for Tuesday’s contest is set for 4 p.m.
