Mckeesport, Pa. – Former Thomas Jefferson Jaguar and current Penn State Greater Allegheny Freshman Colin Bucsok (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was honored this week as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Goalie of the week.
It was a great week in net for Bucsok as he collected 10 saves and his third collegiate shut out in the 2-0 win over Penn State New Kensington last Thursday. Then, he came back and collected 13 saves in PSUGA’s first ever win against Penn state Hazleton on Saturday. He is now 6-1 on the season and has been a big part of the PSUGA soccer team’s success.
Bucsok is in his first season with PSUGA but has seen a lot of success in the game of soccer over the course of his career. He was a three-year starter at Thomas Jefferson high school in Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. In his senior year, he helped lead his team to a 10-1 overall record. He yielded either one or zero goals 10 times over the course of the season. For his efforts, he was named a 2016 WPIAL 3A All-Section goalkeeper, one of four Jaguars to earn the award.
Bucsok came into the season with some big shoes to fill as he was taking over for Parakash Wagley, who was named All-PSUAC Goalie last season. Bucsok has come in and done just that allowing one goal or less in five of the team’s seven contests this season.
Bucsok and the rest of the PSUGA Soccer team are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face off against Westmoreland County Community College in non-conference action at 4 p.m.
