Three Second-Half Goals Elevate Beaver over Greater Allegheny Men's Soccer, 3-2

McKeesport, Pa. - Despite being up 1-0 at halftime, the #4 Penn State Greater Allegheny men's soccer team dropped #3 Penn State Beaver, 3-2, in a Penn State University Athletic Conference battle, Wednesday afternoon.

Junior midfielder Marin Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was the first to strike, as he crossed in front of the net and hit a defender, 1-0 GA to finish the first half.

A penalty kick goal and a hammer of a shot catapulted Beaver to a 2-1 lead.

Marina tied the game at two after he shot and crashed the net in the 71st minute.

Just under two minutes later, Beaver took a hard shot to take the 3-2 lead to ride the remainder of regulation.

Freshman goalkeeper Prakash Wagley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) faced 12 shots on goal, stopping nine.

Marina ripped five shots in the game as junior midfielder Nick Andrews (Penn Hills, Pa./Serra Catholic) posted three.

As a team, Greater Allegheny was outshot 21-13.

Greater Allegheny (6-4-2, 4-3-1 PSUAC) looks onward to their final contest of the regular season, as Penn State New Kensington comes to Francis McClure Intermediate School. Game-time is set for Tuesday, October 25th at 4 p.m. Greater Allegheny will be honoring their seniors and 2+2 students in a ceremony just before gametime.
