Five Goals for M. Marina in 7-3 Blaze Past Worthington-Scranton

Dunmore, Pa. - With the first three goals coming off of the foot of junior midfielder Marin Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's soccer team blew past Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Saturday afternoon, by a tally of 7-3.

Marina noted goals in the third, 26th and 35th minute, one coming off the foot of sophomore defender Kyle Griffin (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin). With just two minutes before halftime, Worthington-Scranton managed to net a goal, 3-1 GA to head into the second half of action.

Freshman midfielder Ronnie Caldro (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) was the first to score in the new half, after senior midfielder Gerardo Diaz-Perez (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Immaculate Conception Academy) found his feet. Marina added the next goal before the next two belonged to WS, 5-3.

With time on its way to expire, Diaz-Perez found Marina for his fifth of the game. Sophomore midfielder Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was up for the penalty-kick with less than 30 seconds left of the game, giving GA another goal as well as the walk-off win. 

Freshman goalkeeper Prakash Wagley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) faced seven shots on goal, posting four saves.

Marina ripped a third of the teams total shots, ten being on target. Caldro also aimed six shots on goal. Thieret noted three assists in the contest.

As a team, Greater Allegheny outshot Worthington-Scranton an astounding 30-10.

Greater Allegheny (5-2-2, 3-1-1 PSUAC) finishes out their Penn State University Athletic Conference weekend at Penn State Schuylkill, Sunday afternoon. The men are set for action after the women's contest, around 3 p.m.
