Newby, Payne and Prota Named to the PSUAC All-Conference List

University Park, Pa. - After the 2016-17 Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Championship title on Sunday evening, Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball players junior guard Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon), sophomore guard Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) and sophomore forward George Prota (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) were all named to the All-Conference Awards list.

Newby was named to the First-Team All-Conference list after his outstanding effort through all 26 games of the season, averaging 33.2 minutes per game. The junior has put down 49.4% (155-of-314) of his shots from the floor and 60.9% (70-of-115) from the foul line. Curtis pulled down a total of 246 rebounds with 382 total points, 48 assists, 47 steals and 33 blocks. Newby currently sits third overall in steals, fourth in blocks and defensive rebounds (170) and fifth in total rebounds.

Payne and Prota both were named to the PSUAC Honorable Mention list. 

In 26 games for the Lions, Payne averaged 26.5 minutes per game with 13.9 points per game. The guard added 39.4% (123-of-312) of his shots from the floor, 84.5% (49-of-58) from the foul line and 36.1% (66-of-183) from outside the arc. Jordon added a total of 361 points, 83 total rebounds, 68 assists, 34 steals and four blocks.

Another Lion who played in every game this year, Prota contributed in 26 games with an average of 11.1 points per game alongside 8.3 rebounds per game. With a total of 289 points, 217 boards, 36 blocks, 16 steals and 18 assists alongside a free-throw percentage of 64.3 (45-of-70) and 54.7% (122-of-223) from the floor. 

Prota currently sits #1 in the PSUAC for offensive rebounds with 100 and second in blocks with 36.
