University Park, Pa. - In a 2-0 PSUAC week for the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team, junior guard Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) earned himself the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 17th, 2017.
In the tenth win of the season for Greater Allegheny over Penn State Wilkes-Barre 66-58, Newby added 14 points, seven boards and a block. The following day was their 11th, as the Lions overcame Worthington-Scranton 78-67. Newby lifted the score 18 points with nine boards, two assists, one steal and a block.
With a overall record of 11-4, 5-1 PSUAC, Newby collected 32 points,16 rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal, as he shot an overall 60.9% (14-of-23) from the foul line
Newby is currently third in the PSUAC with overall rebounds with 146 and steals with 29 as well as tied in fourth with fellow Lion George Prota for blocks with 18.
