GA Men's Basketball Stumble over Carlow, 85-74

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Through a back-and-forth forty minutes, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team fell to Carlow University, Friday night, by the tally of 85-74.

Senior forward Tyler Burkhart (Morgantown, Pa./The Kiski School) marked points from the free-throw line as sophomore guard Khari Hicks (East Hills, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) and sophomore forward Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) dropped jumpers and junior guard Moe Alli (Edison, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) posted a three-pointer, GA leading Carlow after five minutes 10-7.

Freshman forward Scott Przybysz (Elderton, Pa./West Shamokin) and sophomore guard Denzel Boyer-London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) added jumpshots while Hicks noted points from the free-throw line 17-14. Carlow elevated their score put and over GA before Moe managed to post a jumper to break the Lion silence.

Boyer-London bucketed a three-pointer before freshman guard Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), Hicks and Newby all contributed jumpers. Payne laid on a trey and a jumper before Boyer-London and Burkhart rode out the first half scoring drive with two points a piece, GA narrowly trailing 43-39.

Alli, Burkhart, Hicks and Newby contributed jumpers for the blue-and-white as Carlow continued to pull away. Freshman forward Isaiah Fluker (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) added points from the line alongside Burkhart, Hicks and Boyer-London. Payne, Alli, Hicks and freshman guard Tyrone Johnson (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) add on jumpers to increase the offensive drive.

With less than two minutes to play, Hicks hit a three-pointer to bring the game to a 81-70 Carlow lead. Sophomore guard Antonio Lucic-Jozak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) made a free-throw as Hicks clocked a jumper and one for the final points of the Greater Allegheny effort. The Lions were on the short-end of the stick with Carlow over-coming, 85-74.

Hicks put up 20 points with two assists and a rebound while draining 56% (5-of-9) of his free-throws. Payne added 11 points with five boards, two assists and one steal. Burkhart contributed ten points and eight rebounds.

As a team, Greater Allegheny managed 14 points off of turnover and eight points off second-chance.

Greater Allegheny (0-4) will look onward to Tuesday, as the men are set to travel to Community College of Beaver County for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
