Double-Header Split at Mont Alto for Greater Allegheny Baseball

Mont Alto, Pa. - Through a Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) double-header at Penn State Mont Alto, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team took game one by a score of 6-2 before narrowly falling in game two, 2-1.

Sophomore center-fielder Dylan Ernst (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) singled to bat home sophomore designated hitter Zach Craven (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), 1-0.

The second inning brought a sophomore right-fielder Alex Myers (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) run, as Alex not only reached base but scored on an error by the third baseman, 2-0.

Ernst singled in the top third to score sophomore third baseman Dylan Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), 3-0.

Another Lion run the fourth was scored by Myers, as junior second baseman Adam Jacko (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) grounded out to push him. 

Mont Alto managed one in the bottom of the fourth before Greater Allegheny posted two.

Finocchi reached on a fielders choice to score Craven before freshman catcher Brian Koglin (Indiana, Pa./Fox Chapel) grounded out to score junior first baseman Joshua Arroyo (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Levittown Baptist Academy), 6-1.

Mont Alto managed one in the bottom of the seventh to close game one, 6-2.

Junior right-handed pitcher Luke Padezan (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) pitched the seven-inning complete game, as he sat down three of his 25 batters down on strike-out.

Ernst connected on 3-of-4 at the plate with two RBI while Craven hit 2-of-4 with two runs scored himself.

Game two started with two Mont Alto runs in the first inning, home team leading 2-0.

Greater Allegheny managed to split the lead as Jacko singled to score freshman third baseman Pablo Escobar (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy), 2-1 MA.

Time was not on Greater Allegheny's side as Mont Alto took game two, 2-1.

Junior right-handed pitcher Dan Daly (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) pitched all six innings, as he sat down three of his 23 batters down on strike-out.

Escobar, Jacko, Finocchi, Koglin and junior shortstop Zachary Pollack (Cecil, Pa./Canon-McMillan) all posted a hit each in the second game.

Greater Allegheny (6-12, 4-4 PSUAC) looks to play a nine-inning game against Mont Alto, Friday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
