McKeesport, PA. – The votes are in and you the fans have selected Penn State Greater Allegheny Baseball Player Josh Arroyo’s (Toa Alta, Peurto Rico/Levittown Baptist Academy) 100th Career Collegiate RBI as the PSUGA moment of the year. Arroyo was a big part of the PSUGA Baseball Team’s success this season and his big moment helped PSUGA clinch their fifth playoff spot in the last eight seasons.
The moment happened on April 15th 2018 in a game against Penn State Fayette at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, PA. Arroyo came to the plate with the bases loaded and four runs already in in the inning. Arroyo took a high fastball off the shoulder allowing the fifth run of the inning to score and giving Arroyo 100 RBI for his collegiate career. He would receive the ball that hit him and was met on the field by his teammates as they celebrated at first base.
The milestone capped off a huge weekend for Arroyo that saw him drive in eight runs in four games while hitting .500 (6-12). That weekend gave PSUGA a huge momentum boost as they went on to win seven of their last eight games to capture the #3 seed in the PSUAC Playoff Tournament.
Arroyo turned in another strong season in his senior year leading the team in both home runs (2) and RBI (26) while hitting .360 in 26 games. He had the second highest on base percentage on the team reaching at a .474 clip while being hit a team leading 10 times and walking eight times throughout the season.
Stay tuned to our social media pages all summer long as more fan vote awards are given out. Congratulations to Arroyo and good luck to the rest of our athletes as the summer moves on towards the 2018-2019 academic year.
