Burchlaw and Loftus Recognized for Efforts Through 9/15

McKeesport, Pa. - For their work in a Greater Allegheny uniform, freshman cross country runner Michael Burchlaw (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and junior women's soccer midfielder Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) were honored by the PSUAC, as Burchlaw was also recognized by the USCAA.

Men's cross country runner Burchlaw smoked the competition, Saturday September 12th as Greater Allegheny hosted their Annual Invitational. The freshman finished in third place out of 63 runners with an overall time of just 26:35. The newcomer finished just 32 seconds after the first place runner, a Division II student-athlete from University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. With Burhclaw's efforts on the course, his race boosted his team to finish 2nd overall with 69 points, just behind UPJ who posted 19.

With these accolades, Burchlaw earned himself not only the Penn State University Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, but also the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Runner of the Week.

Loftus earned the PSUAC Player of the Week for her efforts in the women's soccer 6-1 victory over Westmoreland County Community College, September 10th. The midfielder netter her first hat-trick of the season, notching three goals on eight shots. This is the second time Loftus has earned a hat-trick in a Greater Allegheny jersey.
